Virtual Community Town Hall on Impact of Shutdown

The Arizona Disability Advocacy Coalition (AZDAC) and the Arizona Statewide Independent Living Council (AZSILC) are hosting a Virtual Community Town Hall to discuss how the federal government shutdown is affecting people who have disabilities and those living on fixed incomes across Arizona.

The town hall will take place on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM (Arizona time). Registration is free and open to the public.

The discussion will cover how the shutdown impacts access to:
• SNAP (food assistance)
• WIC (Women, Infants, and Children nutrition program)
• Vocational Rehabilitation services
• Food banks and other community resources

Speakers include:

• J.J. Rico, CEO, Disability Rights Arizona
• Christopher J. Rodriguez, President & CEO, Ability360
• Eileen M. Tohonnie, Assist to Independence
• Angie Rodgers, Deputy Director, Arizona Department of Economic Security
• Lynn Larson, Deputy Assistant Director, Division of Employment & Rehabilitation Services
• Celia Nabor, MPA, Assistant Director, Preventive Services, Arizona WIC Program
• Brandon Krupp, Public Policy Manager, Arizona Food Bank Network

The event will be accessible to all with ASL interpretation and CART (live captioning) provided.

The goal is to share information, connect people to available programs, and strengthen collaboration between community organizations and government agencies.

David Carey, Chair of AZDAC, will moderate the discussion and encourages community members to attend and share their experiences.
