Ava Lemke

Board Member

Ava Lemke joined Disability Rights Arizona (DRAZ) in June 2023 as a Board Member. Lemke is an undergraduate student at Barrett, The Honors College at Arizona State University, working towards a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, minor in Disability Studies, and certificate in Cross-Sector Leadership. Lemke was the founder and executive director of 501c3 nonprofit organization, Dancers Against Substance Abuse, Inc. In this capacity, she was able to raise awareness about addiction and mental health by supporting treatment facilities and uplifting her community with positive alternatives. As an advocate for social justice, Lemke has been involved in Best Buddies for 8 years. Their mission is to foster meaningful friendships between people with and without intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD). Throughout Lemke’s college experience, she has held leadership roles with Next Generation Service Corps, Accessibility Coalition at ASU, Barrett Residential Community, Barrett Mentoring Program, Public Value Technology Accelerators, ASU’s Center for the Study of Race and Democracy, and ASU Tillman Scholars. Lemke looks forward to continuing to strengthen her passion for public service and disability advocacy with DRAZ.
