Synopsis:

The disability rights movement in Africa has made significant progress, yet challenges remain, highlighting the need for advocacy, policy reform, and societal awareness to ensure full inclusion and equal opportunities for people with disabilities. This session features a panel of Fellows from two US Department of State-funded programs: the Professional Fellows Program on Inclusive Disability Employment and the Professional Fellows Program on Inclusive Civic Engagement. Panelists will share experiences of disability in their home countries, examine the African Disability Protocol, and discuss the impact of cross-cultural exchange. Together, they will explore opportunities and challenges in advancing disability rights and inclusion.
